0.1
Created by Mark S. Fox (msf@eil.utoronto.ca).
GCI extension of the GovStat Ontology developed by M. Pattuelli.
Pattuelli, M.C., (2003), “The GovStat Ontology: Technical Report”. The GovStat Project, Integration Design Laboratory, School of Information and Library Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The ontology has been extended by M. Fox to support the definition of Population's.
Version 0.4 18 Sep 2018
- added distinct_count_of property to be able to count the number
of distinct values a property of the members of a population have
- added Distinct_count class that is a Parameter that represents
the number of distinct values of a property of the members of a
Population
Version 0.3 7 Jun 2018
- added has_characteristic as inverse of is_a_characteristic_of
- added member_of as inverse of is_composed_of
- extended the domain of is_composed_of to include Population in addition to Sample
Version 0.2, 2 Jun 2017
- removed sum_of_var, mean_of_var, std_of_var and replaced with parameter_of_var
Version 0.1, 17 Jan 2017:
- Added Sum as a subclass of Parameter
- Added Cardinality as subclass of Parameter
- Added object property parameter_of_var to link Parameter to Variable
- Added sum_of_var as subproperty of parameter_of_var to link Sum to Variable
- Added mean_of_var as subproperty of parameter_of_var to link Mean to Variable being summed
- Added std_of_var as subproperty of parameter_of_var to link Standard_deviation to Variable
- Added object property description_of as inverse of is_described_by
- Added sum_of property as subproperty of is_described_by to link Sum to Population
- Added std_of property as subproperty of is_described_by to link Standard_Deviation to Population
- Added mean_of property as subproperty of is_described_by to link Mean to Population
- Added Sample_sum and Sample_cardinality

#Cardinality
Cardinality of the Population.
Note that there is no property that links Cardinality to a Variable.
#Distinct_count
Distinct_count class that is a Parameter that represents
the number of distinct values of a property of the members of a
Population
#Mean
Mean represents the mean value of a property all members of the Population have and is specified by the parameter_of_var property.
#Observation
Observation
#Parameter
Parameter is the Class of all measures that can be made of a Population, both statistical, e.g., Mean, Starndard_devation, and others, e.g., Cardinality, Sum.
#Population
Population
#Sum
Sum defines the sum over a variable possessed by members of the Population.
#Variable
The property that is being measured in the population. Since Protege is not Full DL, cannot make the property a subclass of Variable, so have to specify it as a string name using has_Name.
